Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE - fill in before launch]. Questions: [EMAIL - fill in before launch].

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Strife (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 17, you confirm you have a parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Service, including to make any payments described below. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your password secure. One account per person. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. Payment, tiers, and billing

All payments on Strife are made in cryptocurrency, sent directly to a wallet we control. We don't use a card processor and don't collect or store payment-card information, bank details, or government identification of any kind. Strife offers five support tiers (Supporter, Plus, Pro, Legend, and Icon) and one-time contributions up to $500. A tier purchase pays for 30 days of that tier - nothing auto-renews and nothing auto-charges. When your 30 days are up, your account reverts to Free automatically; no cancellation is needed because nothing was set up to bill you again. Buying another block of the same tier before your current one expires adds the new days on top of what you have left, rather than wasting the remaining time.

When you start a purchase, you'll be shown the exact price and redirected to a payment invoice. That invoice is only valid for a limited time (currently 60 minutes) at the quoted price - cryptocurrency values move, so an expired, unpaid invoice needs to be recreated at the then-current rate. Payment is typically confirmed within a few minutes of sending it, depending on network conditions.

5. Refund policy

Cryptocurrency payments are irreversible once confirmed on the blockchain - there is no chargeback mechanism, and we cannot force a transaction to reverse even if we wanted to. Because of this, all payments are final. If you believe a payment was made in error (for example, a technical fault caused you to be charged twice, or a payment didn't credit your account after confirming on-chain), contact us within 7 days and we'll look into it - at our discretion, we may issue a manual refund by sending cryptocurrency back to a wallet address you provide, but this is not guaranteed and the value of that refund may differ from what you originally paid due to price movement between the two transactions.

6. Acceptable use

No harassment, hate speech, illegal content, impersonation, or fraud (including disputing legitimate charges in bad faith). This applies everywhere on the Service, including the forums - we can remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this.

7. Leaderboard and recognition

Strife may display supporters' usernames, tier, and relative rank (all-time and monthly) based on contributions, and chat-activity rank based on forum participation, for recognition purposes only. Rank and tier do not grant control over other users' experience of the Service or over shared site content. We may change or discontinue any recognition feature at any time.

8. Forums and user content

You're responsible for what you post in the forums. We may remove content or delete messages that violate these Terms. Anything you submit through the feature-suggestion box can be used or implemented by us without payment or obligation to you. We review every suggestion but aren't obligated to implement any of them.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, with notice where practical.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new “Last updated” date; continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
