Privacy Policy

This describes what Strife actually collects and does, in plain language. It's a solid starting point, not a substitute for a lawyer's review before real users and real payments are involved.

What we collect

  • Account info: username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store or see your actual password).
  • Payment-related info: your subscription tier, lifetime contribution total, and contribution history (amount, type, date). Payments are made in cryptocurrency directly to a wallet we control - we never see or request your name, address, government ID, or any traditional financial information.
  • Content you post: forum messages, feature suggestions, and anything else you submit.
  • Basic account activity: when your account was created, your subscription status.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information. We don't use ad-tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers. We don't share your data with anyone else - payments are processed through our own self-hosted invoicing system, not a third-party payment company, so there's no external party in the payment flow at all.

How payment works

When you support Strife, you're shown a cryptocurrency payment address and amount. You pay directly from your own wallet; the payment goes straight to a wallet we control, with nothing routed through a bank or card network. Blockchain payments are public by nature - the transaction itself is visible on the relevant blockchain the way any crypto transaction is - but we don't collect or store any information linking your wallet address to your Strife account beyond the payment amount and timestamp needed to credit your account correctly.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (via NextAuth). It's required for the Service to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, forum messages, and feature suggestions are deleted. Any forum you created stays up for the people still using it, but it's no longer attributed to you.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by contacting us at the email above. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Users between 13 and 17 need a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service, including to make any payments - see the Terms of Service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
